Frequently asked questions
What does the broken link checker check?
It loads the page you enter and checks up to 100 links found on it, including links to other websites. Each link is requested with HEAD and, if the server refuses that, with GET. Redirects are shown but not followed.
Why is a link shown as "access denied"?
Some sites answer automated requests with 401, 403 or 429 although the page exists in the browser. We list these separately instead of calling them broken.
Is my whole website crawled?
No. The free check only looks at the one page you enter. Kaspar's link monitoring scans your whole site on a schedule and reports new broken links.
Are the results stored?
No. The results are only shown to you in this response and are not saved.
